123 West
123 West is a modern interpretation of the traditional architecture of a historic town. This residential and commercial building is located on a dramatic site overlooking Friday Harbor’s waterfront and provides view opportunities for the public and pedestrian links both through and around the site. The mass of the building is broken up into several smaller volumes with varying roof heights that step up with the slope of the site, creating a visual connection to the scale and character of the existing Friday Harbor architecture. 123 West features a prominent rain garden which conveys water from the building roofs, through the center of the site, finally collecting in an industrial-style catchment tank.
